About the project
DEMI is a digital AI assistant for mine safety and first aid. It was born from a simple idea: knowledge that can save a life should always be within reach — in your pocket, on your phone screen, just one step away from the question that needs an answer right now.
This chatbot is your companion who will help you navigate a dangerous situation, teach you how to act correctly, and check how well you’ve remembered the material. DEMI will tell you what to do if you discover a suspicious object, how to behave during a shelling attack, and how to provide first aid — to yourself or to a loved one — before the medics arrive.
Why We Are Doing This
Ukraine today is one of the most heavily contaminated countries in the world when it comes to explosive remnants of war. And sadly, this threat does not end where the explosions fall silent. It lingers in familiar places: in the fields where harvests once grew, on forest paths, near ruined houses, along the roadsides we walk every day. Danger has become part of the landscape — and that is precisely why everyone needs to know the rules of safety today.
Traditional group training sessions are important and valuable. But they require a trainer, a venue, time, and logistics. Not every community can gather people together, and not every person can show up on a fixed day and hour. And material heard only once is easily forgotten — without the ability to revisit it in the moment it truly matters.
DEMI removes these obstacles. It is by your side every day — on your phone, your computer, your tablet. No course registration, no waiting. Just open it — and begin.
The Barriers We Break Down
Often, what stands between a person and knowledge is not a complicated subject, but small everyday obstacles. DEMI was created so that none of them remain:
- You can ask the bot any question — even one that feels “too simple” or uncomfortable. It won’t judge.
- You don’t have to adjust to a training schedule — learning begins when you are ready.
- Where there is internet, there is access. From any village or city.
- Some people grasp it instantly, others need to read it three times. DEMI will wait as long as needed.
- No matter how many times you return, it will explain again — without fatigue or frustration.
What Already Works
Today DEMI is already available in English and Ukrainian and performs its key functions. At this stage, it can:
- adapt explanations to the user’s age — so a child understands as clearly as an adult;
- operate in three modes: consultation, learning, and testing;
- serve as a personal trainer, a knowledge tester, or a teacher’s assistant;
- reinforce learned material through interactive scenarios.
Why This Matters
In situations where a mine, an explosive object, or an injured person is nearby, we have no time to read instructions. The right actions must already live within us — as a reflex, as confidence, as a calm inner voice that says: don’t touch it, walk back the same way you came, warn others, call 101, 102, or 112.
DEMI helps cultivate this inner voice in advance. It turns dry rules into living scenarios in which the user is not a passive reader but a participant: answering, making mistakes, learning why things are done a certain way, and remembering not with the mind, but through action.
We believe that DEMI is not a replacement for a live trainer. It is a trusted ally. A tool that works where a trainer cannot be at the same time: at three in the morning, in a remote village, alongside a person who simply wants to check themselves once more. Together — in-person training and a digital companion — they can reach far more people than either could alone.
And every person who, thanks to this knowledge, does not take a fatal step — that is the very meaning of this project.
About the Team
The DEMI team is made up of specialists from three worlds that rarely intersect — yet it is precisely at their meeting point that real solutions are born.
Together, they translate the language of professionals into a language understandable to everyone. Because the most valuable experience is the kind that can be shared in a way that protects a life.
Ivan — project manager, PhD
He has been managing complex interdisciplinary projects for 25 years. He defines the product strategy, coordinates the team and is responsible for the measurable result.
Oleksandr — mine safety expert
with 8 years of experience in a field where the price of a mistake is human life. He forms the expert basis of the platform so that the content about the mine threat corresponds to real field conditions
Serhiy — civil protection expert
with 27 years in the civil protection system. He is responsible for the content of the safety modules - so that knowledge reaches communities, families and children in an understandable form.
Nataliya — expert in tactical medicine and first aid
with 19 years in medicine. She is responsible for the reliability of the platform's medical content - so that the knowledge that the user receives really helps save lives.
Andriy — artificial intelligence specialist
with 18 years in the field of AI. Implements technologies that make the platform smarter: faster threat detection, more accurate recommendations, personalized learning.
Anton — web developer
who has been creating digital products for 20 years. He is responsible for ensuring that the platform works reliably, quickly, and is convenient for each user.
Zlata — project administrator
Provides organizational support to the team, process coordination, and clear communication between participants.
Sabina — computer engineer, beta tester
Tests the product before people start using it. Their job is to guarantee the stability, security, and quality of the platform.
